Video-related questions

So I was thinking about how I'd like to make a game trailer (not a pointless music video, which I'm done with), and I figured Demigod would be a good candidate. It's new, the vid might actually help the community, the graphics will be top notch, etc.

Then I got to reading up about the game. No replay system (the "unofficial" version is apparently buggy and incomplete). Terrible AI making offline play largely pointless. A single digit map count. No tutorials. A relatively small number of units to work with. Quite a number of bugs. No demo to see if I can record at a usable speed.

So, ummm... I'm not really sure where that leaves me. I don't know if this game has either the content necessary for a vid, or the tools necessary to create one. What I do know is that waiting for those issues to get fixed will eat up time, a commodity that is not on my side. Releasing a vid after the market has lost interest makes the entire thing pointless, and I'm not looking to waste my time.

So I put it to you, Demigod players: Is this game worth the effort? Does it have what it takes for an epic style trailer (the official, action oriented trailer had a number of duplicate shots, and it only had 1:15 worth of content)? Does it physically have the features necessary to go about filming a vid at all (time slow down during gameplay, moving camera that can lock in place, turning off all HUD markings/health bars/selection boxes/etc., replays in the near future, etc.)?

FYI, this is the piece of music I want to use (from Trailer 3 on this page). I filled it up with Angel scenes to get a feel for how long the shots would have to be and such. Other then scene transition timing, it's not synched at all (i.e. explosions and such). In fact, a number of shots have to repeat due to not being long enough.|||Rake|||Awesome trailer music.. I'm really hoping for a Demigod video now.. Music fits very epicly..

Looking at the game from a video game editors point of view.. It's a lot different from Supcom if you want epic scenes.. You can't slow down replays as they are now.. And I don't know if they'll have it so in the final replay viewer.. So if you ain't got a computer strong enough to run fraps at the full speed, then you might get some very laggy fps.. :(

Hoping for the best! Demigod is a sweet sweet game and I would think it deserves your video game editing skills attention..|||Rake|||arty|||If you haven't played Demigod before, the AI is fairly challenging. Moreover, the AI can look good when videoed in a way that a SupCom AI never could.

The lack of replays is a big deal. With a little hacking though, you can turn on all the debug keys from SupCom as they used to be. The spacebar now locks the angle in place by default.

However, Demigod simply looks cool in a way that Supreme Commander never did.|||DeadMG|||That's the Clean Beast.|||Don't get mad if you see me running around with my special cloaking powers, okay guys? Jealousy does not become you. 8)|||Um... wow, that doesn't look right. Even disregarding the invisible beast, the background looks really bad.

I was running the beta on a Geforce 7950gt and had shadows off and everything set to medium to get decent performance. Even then it looked far better than that. Now I've got a 9800gt and the game looks gorgeous.
