Unclean Beast vs. Rook 1v1 - need advice!

Hey guys.



The map being played is Prison, since it's a very open and quite fun map to play 1v1..



I've been playing 20 games so far and I've yet to beat the Rook in 1v1, so I was wondering if any of you have any advice to what could help me in this damn battle against this damn castle..

All he does is smack that damn hammer into the ground to level up by smashing all my minions in one smack and then he goes down and destroys my defenses one by one..

I know I'm supposed to use my speed to my advantage, so every time he takes a flag I got the two others, most of the time..

But he knows I play Unclean Beast, so the first thing he buys is the speed boots, so he gets to the gold flag almost as fast as me and I can't kill him 1v1..

Also a counter to Oak's speed reducing attack would be nice, it's so annoying and he can easily smack me about, when that's done, since I can't get away..



Anyone got any advice for me to use..?|||Rook is tank, UB is DPS.



don't go for speed, go for increased damage output. Venom spit does like 1300 damage over time, so shoot him with it and back off to do something else, then come back and do it again.



the inner beast or w/e *the temporary state change* also increases your DPS, as does Ooze. remember to also buy plenty of mana potions and get health regen items (your passive regen should be good enough that you never need to buy health potions, but you may want to upgrade it vs a rook).



also: venom spit + ooze will do a lot of damage, since VS reduces rooks armour, you want to keep that armour debuff on constantly to remove his defense advantage, so make sure you have enough mana to re spit as soon as possible.



as for levelling, you should be able to out race him pretty easily, UB tears through creeps like they're paper, and if he's hammerslamming them, he's wasting mana and cooldown time. Try attacking him right after he's done it to some minions and he'll be pretty defenseless. Also try to fight away from your own creeps so he can't get exp through collateral.



You are faster, and venom spit has range, remember that.|||Thx for the tips.



I just found out that Ooze also reduces attack speed by 40%, but I don't know if it's smart to take it at an early stage, since my hp drops fast at the early levels.



Is there a place where I can view the different items and their effects without having to go into the game and enter a shop..? Also skills and such..|||My UB build is different, especially with the favor bug making it hard to get the really good favor items.



I start out by purchasing the 1k speed boots and the swift anklet favor item. Together they grant a +25% speed bonus which will keep you considerably faster than anyone else. Early on you've got to play evasive, which will be easy with all that speed. Cap flags, kill creeps, level up, etc. Make good use of the spit and run tactic.



As soon as I have the gold I buy the 1750g helmet for the mana regen. At level 5 I take the post mortem skill which allows ub to really start tearing through creeps fast, making leveling easier. At this point extra gold go towards gloves. Wyrmskin and slayers gloves are my favorites. Continue with the spit and run tactics, and once you've got him drained enough you can move in for the kill. Having those slayers gloves really helps for the chance at double damage, even better when combined with bestial Wrath.



Once you've got Foul Grasp you have a great tool to disrupt his hammer slam. When you decide to close in and go for the kill, keep foul grasp queued up to interupt him the moment you see that hammer go up.



I used to hate fighting rook but now I don't mind. He is the slowest DG in the game, and you are the fastest, especially with this build. You should be able to run circles around him, drain him with spit, then close in for the kill. Just make sure you maintain a good amount of mana regen so you can spit and grasp.



If you think he's going to go after your towers aggressively, buy the 600g citadel ugprade that gives your buildings regen. A rook next to a tower can be taken out pretty fast if you can hold him there. Foul Grasp can interupt his "tower hug" and stacking spit with your dps and the tower hitting him is bad news.

don't trust the stats completely though. The 0 day patch isn't fully reflected here, for instance I saw the wyrmskin gloves still listing their beta stats when they were nerfed for launch.
