Nightmare difficulty level

Is it just me or is the only way to win at nightmare difficulty to hold out as best as you can until you reach level 20? Initially, I do pretty good, but the npcs on my team always fall behind compared to the other team (up to 4 levels at later stages of the game). From that point on, all hell breaks loose.

Any suggestions?|||It depends on how you play. In my experience you can keep up if you ignore citadell upgrades except the first XP and gold buff. But for me it comes down to early game stuff: Did you die once or twice? Its pretty hard to come back from that. If you can manage to get one or two early kills and maybe an assist things are looking up.

And it depends on the Demiogds. Lets say Im a level 15 Oak or something and Im facing a level 20 Unclean Beast alone I run. I might take on a Torchy or harass a slow Rook.

Most of the time I try to support my team AIs. Cast a shield, draw the attention away from them, slow fleeing opponents down, clean out the minions and creeps in a contested area...

A good way to win is to focus on winning not harvesting kills. Cap a portal in their base, dry out their gold mines, upgrade your creeps (not too early though).
