Anyone else having endless wait times for everything lately?

Try to sign in to DG...takes 10 minutes of waiting before it lets me in. Oh well. I press Join Game and 75% of the games I try to join fail. No big, I'll find one... I finally join a game and we're one player short. 30 minutes later when we have the last player, the host times out. Damn it, I'll just host one. So, after 20 minutes one person joins, and 20 minutes after that another person joins, and right when we decide to just stick an AI in the last spot to get the damn thing going, I hit go, the third person times out, and the game locks up. I go to the Stardock Demigod forum, and I see a thread complaining about this problem. I join the chorus, and then I see a sticky that says it has solutions to Demigod problems. I click that, and then after 15 minutes of waiting, the forum craps out. That sticky's failed to load 3 times.



Jesus Christ, talk about a bad first impression.



EDIT: And now my login has randomly stopped working. Again. I was able to log in once today, then it said I had an invalid login, and then I tried it again 15 minutes later and it worked, and now I have an invalid login again. Wonderful.|||The Stardock servers are being ABSOLUTELY WHAT THE **** FACE PWNED. LIKE RAPED IN THE FACE WITH A CHAINSAW.



Like, even worse than WoW or HL2 when they were first released.|||You'd think they might be prepared for this kind of thing.|||I doubt any large game service can be fully prepared for when they release a game. They just think they are.|||It's all the people who pre-ordered downloading Demigod.





There's no point in being prepared for that, because the kind of hit your servers take from hundreds of people downloading the entire game at the same time is only ever going to happen once; at release. If your servers can cope with that then they're horrendously overpowered.|||DeadMG|||Yeah, I'm glad I got my download in on Sunday. Monday night the servers were having fits. Frogboy and the whole stardock team was pulling an all nighter trying to get this move done.



Part of the chaos has to do with Gamestop selling the game almost a week early. Stardock was putting the final touches on a patch slated to go out on the 14th along with switching over from beta to live servers. Instead they had to cope with beta servers getting slammed early and people bitching up a storm about severely limited connection feedback. Basically the servers were set up to handle DG post 4/14 patch and instead they had to deal with a premature version of the game.



Bad times all around and really most of this trouble would have been avoided were in not for the early shipping. Brad is also saying they have another update coming in about a week that's going to further improve the netcode and UI feedback regarding connections. I expect this week to be a bit rough, though it should get better as the downloads decrease. Within a week or two most of the issues should be ironed out. Hopefully |||honestly stardock sucks, their freeware is amazing (objectdock, desktop etc.) but wtf isn't the dev suppose to handle game issues not the publisher?



GPG really dropped the ball on this, handing its multiplayer client to someone else.... that's like putting your financial planning in the hands of a shady guy in an alley|||As an Employee of EB Games Canada, I'd like to mention we didn't get our copies until the 13th.
