Spitter-sniper teams

[:1]Is there any reasonable counter to a spitter-sniper team, other than another spitter-sniper team? I keep coming across this tactic (I use the word generously) in advanced games, and I feel quite helpless against it. I encounter Unclean Beast, I hit him, he spits on me, I get sniped from half-way across the map, I run, I get sniped a second time, and I die. Early game there's no need for a second snipe, late game there's a tracking bug in the snipe. I've encountered one group of fellows who used that favor item which is a personal Finger of God to complement this deadly trick.

Long story short, I can't deal a single point of damage to the Unclean Beast without being killed by the sniper. I suppose I could use the favor item which removes harmful effects, but I don't know what I'd do without my Anklet of Haste. How can this spitter-sniper combination be countered?|||Potions. Always buy at least one small health potion. There is no reason not to do it. You only have to carefully use it in order not to waste it.

If you fee like it you can also try Symbol of Purity against the spit.|||Stack health items and potions. The trick is that spit is a very one-trick pony. If you health pot away the spit, that UB's got nothing.

We'd really need to know what Demigod you play.|||Sedna's heal (3rd rank) removes debuffs like spit. Also, towards the endgame, items like Orb of Defiance can come in handy. What's even worse than this is if you have a UB + Slow stacking reg. That's a far nastier duo.

Quote:|||Like Dead said, we need to know what demigods you play Benny. And you should learn all about health stacking... :D|||Epiphenomenon|||I play Regulus with the Anklet of Speed. I don't use snipe or mines. (Well, after level 16, I get mines simply because I've run out of other things to get.) I'm wondering if I should drop the Anklet of Speed and get a health favor item, but I really like being able to disengage or pursue. On the other hand, it doesn't seem that I'm able to do either one when I'm fighting a spitter-sniper team.

I also buy the speed boots right away, as soon as the game starts, so I can't afford health items. I'm wondering if I should change that, too. But I don't know how to fight slow and strong. I'm pretty good at fighting my way, using speed and grabbing flags and using Fury on the grunts until I can afford to engage demigods. The only major problem I ever have is with that spitter-sniper team.|||Never buy speed boots. Get the health armor item and the health favour item, and you'll never have a problem. Also, get mines. The fact is that Demigod is often based around fast, burst damage, and you need a fast, early ability to deal and take burst damage. While the Anklet and the Boots give you a nice move advantage, the fact is that while you're disengaging, he's raping your *** with Spit DoT/Snipe, or your towers, or plain just healing up.

There's only a very very few builds that can use such a speed stack effectively, and they all involve very heavy Mine use.|||So how will I avoid dying and giving the enemy a nice gold bonus, if I cannot disengage? How am I going to be able to afford potions and also keep up with the other things?|||Benny Moore|||Benny Moore|||Benny, you might also want to try using a different demigod? Ive always found regulus to take a bit of finesse to play really well (hence I think ive lost every time ive used him haha).|||I would advise trying out Sedna until you have a bit more experience. She is a lot harder to die with. Also, health stacking is almost always the right choice.|||My favorite demigod for gameplay is Rook, but I like Regulus's character best so I play him. Unfortunately, every time I put points into snipe or mine, I lose the game. So I don't use them. I can't level up quickly enough without the splash damage from Fury, and I can't do any significant damage to a demigod with snipe or low-level mines.|||Benny Moore|||pkc|||yeah, im no expert but im pretty sure you get XP from just being near minions when they die.

well, without watching you play i dont know what to tell you. all i do know is ive been on the receiving end from some nasty regulus snipes and mines so im sure more practice from you will sort the problems out!

good luck and have fun!|||All you need is a bramble shield and snipe becomes totally useless.

Add Sednas heals and they wont be able to hurt you

Add Oaks shield and you are invinsible

The 3 Regulus team problem was brought up in beta, they never did something about it though as it turned out that if the reguluses failed at the beginning of the game, that is, failing to snipe kill thanks to shields and heals, they get totally owned before midgame.|||Never once getting below 500 health?

The trouble is Benny that you don't go for the full whack. If you put all your points in mines, Mark of the Betrayer (a PERFECT skill for you) and snipe, you can do mucho damago.

The point is that when you health stack, and then you get three of you, and you all lay mines/use similar ability, the enemy Demigod quantity is reduced very quickly. You can't spit/snipe when your spitter is dead.|||Benny Moore|||Golgoth has it right, at least for the early game. Until you level up your mines and get Mark, avoid beast like the plague

Once you've got those you can start laying traps for him and fighting back. Early game though beast is THE counter against Reg.|||If the other team picks regulus, congrats - you should win.|||Besides, how are you supposed to counter two enemy Demigods? The right Demigods can be countered by a solo Rook with the right build; but it's not common or easy for that situation to occur. Pretty much, hide like a pussy by your tower and kill the minions when they come.|||DeadMG|||Another suggestion is to set towers on high without telling anyone. That makes it easy to farm with regulus. :P
