Jesus tapdacing balls the rook's towers are OP

I think the rook's towers are OP. I just played a game on crucible and the rook player was spamming those things to absurdity. It's not individual towers that are OP, though, it's the fact that he can build 4-5 of them in a very short time, around 30 seconds, and that they don't die until he does, or I kill them the hard way.... They have enough HP that he can usually replace them before I can kill them.

I was TB, and was only able to push him back and win the game after I got the 10 seconds heal item. I'd kill as many towers as I could with my 2 fire AOE attacks, then I'd run away using speed stick and activate the heal. As soon as it was done I'd repeat, him having put up at least 2 more towers in the mean time.

I only made real progress against his base after killing him, which usually only happened once he tried to make a push... the rook is extremely safe when surrounded by towers, only vulnerable when out in the open. We were in fortress mode, though, so he camped his last fortress super hard. It took me the god father ring to finally tip the scales and allow me to score a killing blow on him.

TLDR: Rook makes towers too quickly, needs cooldown increase|||It's rather ironic that the build time was made quicker in between towers because it used to take so long for cooldown that they were useless. :lol:|||Yeah, I'd say +50% cool down time would be more than enough of a nerf.|||but what else can rook do?|||I'm not saying we should kill the strat... it's just TOO strong atm.|||FunkOff|||Are we talking about the same? When I play the Rook I never take towers, I just get hammerslam some shoulders and godstrenght, and kill everything in my path, get RookRoll when avvaible... win.|||The Rook is very vulnerable when caught out alone in the open, but he's goddamn lethal when working in tandem with just about any other Demigod, but especially Demigods that can stun\slow.

You can also often catch people with Hammerslam even if they're not stunned, if you're lucky.

And then of course there's the oh-so-rediculous Rookroll.|||L2P,Noob. :p

Seriously though, those towers are crucial for Rook. It's not like other Demigods don't get strong things too. (UB Ashkandor, i'm looking at you)|||I've never found them to be more than a nuisance. When a rook focuses on towers the best he can do is lock me out of a small area. I either go around or focus on another target. He also sacrifices his skill level in the other areas that makes him lethal.|||I've fought a couple rooks trying this tactic today, it wasn't a big deal at all, albeit I was playing QoT, so that might've had something to do with it.

spamming towers takes a fair bit of mana, and they will die by themselves after a short while. Let the rook burn himself out on them, then just storm in once they run out of time. His mana regen is poor enough that he pretty much has to go back to base for more once he bottoms out.

I can see this tactic being really strong on crucible, but most maps have enough paths that temporarily locking down a small area won't break the game.

If the towers kills give Rook exp, then I can see this tactic being a bit strong when he does it on a grunt path.|||Techubus|||FunkOff|||real problem with crucible is that it's not possible to have a balanced team of 2 DGs. atleast something will be OP because you don't have the DG that can deal with it best.|||All you have to do is get some minions to take some of the hits while you kill his towers. Not really that difficult because the towers never get splash damage. He can make the towers focus on you but you can just have your minions destroy them in by themselves. The siege guys can attack them from out of tower range and if he comes to attack them you make him run back. I dunno but I find minions to be the answer to towers and obviously a heal pot.|||The towers just need less HP. They get 2500 if I remember right at their highest rank, which is just absurd when there are 4 or 5 of them. There's no way to kill them even if you watned. Killing the towers should be a viable counter.|||Think about it though. By the time the towers are maxed you should have more damage or armor or both. It's already too easy for some of the demigods to take them out imo. Regulus can shoot farther than the towers can (which I think at least the base towers should be able to shoot him) but what really messes them up is his mines. The queen has her spikes... I mean they can be hit with aoe attacks.

Their is no doubt that the towers can be used effectively. I think if you nerfed the HP you need to give them splash damage at a higher level.|||I'm sorry, but a 600-800 damage spike area with a 7-10 sec cooldown is not sufficient to take out 5 towers with 2500 health each. Unless you are Regulus, there is simply no viable way to kill the towers -- and you won't be killing the towers as Regulus on pantheon anyway! So the problem is not that the towers are overpowered directly, but that there is no viable counter to them.|||The Rook's towers are useless. Just go in with a team mate, it's an assured kill for your team.|||5 towers together do a healthy amount of damage. I was on the unfortunate receiving end of two Rooks on Crucible. That was a shitfest. 10 towers at 100-200 damage each = instant loss of 1/4 to 1/3 health, and there was no way to go around them. Truly ridiculous.|||Well ok I can see how two rooks can be a problem ;).|||torch bearer.

rain of frost, fire nova.

bam. gone are the towers. (well need one or two more standard hits)

Oh, frost nova freezes them btw.|||Leyline|||Umm TB can handle the Rook's towers very easily. With Frost Nova you can freeze the towers for huge amounts of time. Giving you, your forces, and/or your friendly Demigods plenty enough time to kill them all without taking any damage from them.

Those towers are very powerful, however, if you have nothing to deal with them, but so is everything. I mean giants are pretty tough to counter on larger maps if you don't have giants of your own. But they aren't OP.|||I found the most effective strategy was getting Trebuchets for the fortress. They absolutely rape Rook towers. However I generally find that if the other team plays smart, the required concentration is too small and they can get AoEd down fairly easily.
