[:1]What is the deal with experience? What exactly gets it? Obviously killing grunts, killing demigods, and being on a flag when it's taken gets experience. But I also just discovered that being on a flag while its polarity is moving toward your side gives you a tiny amount of experience per tick. The game says that you get experience every time your reinforcements arrive through a portal that was originally an enemy's. There also seems to be some experience involved with being around enemy grunts when they die, even if you don't kill them. How does this work? Does killing grunts give more experience than being around them when they die? Am I missing anything?|||It's not killing grunts so much as helping kill each one. For characters without aoe attacks, it's best to hit each grunt once to get exp for the death of each one, and let towers/other grunts finish them off.
capturing flags gives quite a noticable bit of xp, especially in the early levels. and holding portals that are not normally yours (including neutrals) gives a nice xp boost as well.|||Pet0sh|||I think you get xp for being near them, and gold for hitting them. I may be wrong though.|||Hmm, I've examined it closely and there does seem to be a tiny amount of gold involved in killing grunts. I can't be sure. I'll have to test it by killing a bunch of grunts at once with a high-level spell, while still at a low-level income rate.
And unless my test was faulty, you do indeed get experience from being near an enemy grunt when it is killed, even if you do not damage it. I wonder whether this amount of experience is the same as that gained when you actually kill it.|||benny, if youre after info you'd probably get more on the official DG forums.|||Yeah, I know. Unfortunately, that place looks a bit spammy, if you know what I mean. I'm quite comfortable here, even if this particular sub-forum is a trifle quiet.
Yes, killing grunts most definitely gives a bit of gold. I dropped some ice on a large group of them and saw my gold go up by a two-digit figure.|||I believe it goes like this:
XP:
Given out purely based on being nearby, hitting/killing the grunt does not increase XP.
Gold:
No gold if you don't hit/kill.
You can "tag" them by doing a percentage of their health in damage to them (I think it is either 25 or 50%).
You get more if you kill them.
Although if you kill them you get XP no matter how far away, this only really affects Heaven's Wrath.
Just a warning, all of this is what I saw on other places, so it may be wrong. I haven't examined the lua files at all.
And yes, the Stardock forums are miles below this one. Although posting with a question like this could probably get you a decent answer before everyone starts calling each other premade ****s.|||Yes, Heaven's Wrath can indeed get you XP from anywhere on the map. Very handy for farming two lanes at once.|||Nicely documented on the Demigod Wiki. There's lots of other interesting stuff there too.
